Is GATE tougher than JEE?

Sister: 'How can you compare? They serve different purposes and happen at different stages.'

Me: 'Everyone agrees JEE is tough. It’s impressive to have such a deep understanding at a young age. But let me ask you, which do you think is tougher, getting into Google/Facebook or IIT?'

She stared at me for about 10-15 seconds, then went back to watching the video.

When a black man and a white woman have a child, does the child become white? If a white man and a black woman have a child, does the child become black?

Sister: 'Really? Huh! Do you know how tough it is to give exams for nearly a month? And if you don’t get over 95%, you won’t get into a good college.'

Me: 'Exactly! The same applies to Gate. When people say Gate is tough, they usually mean it’s tough for PSUs. Gate questions might be easier, but the competition is fierce due to limited seats.'

Sister: 'Okay, but...'

Why is it common for guys to sleep with 10-20 women then marry a good girl?

Sister: 'No way, it’s not even relevant to compare them.'

Sister: 'Nothing. But what’s wrong with admitting JEE is the toughest exam?'

Me: 'Board exams are easy.'

Why is the world male-dominated?

Me: 'I mean, are you comparing the failure rates, syllabus, depth of understanding, question difficulty, or the range of topics covered?'

Cricket isn’t the only tough game; the Olympics, Para Olympics, Tennis, Golf, etc., are equally tough. It might just be over-hyped.'

Sister: 'Hmm, yes. The same goes for entrepreneurship or starting a business, right? They’re also tough if you want to succeed.'

Sister: 'What parameters? (Dodged the question)'

Are the seasons in Ireland different from those in Scotland, England, and Wales? Or are they just milder versions of each other?

Me: 'Look, if you want to get into the best DU colleges, the board exam is the toughest. If you want IIT, then JEE is the toughest. If you aim for IAS/IPS, CSE is the toughest. For PSUs or IITs for Masters, Gate is the toughest. For foreign universities, GRE/GMAT is the toughest. For AIIMS, it’s the toughest. For becoming a CA, that’s the toughest for you. Want to join the Indian Forces? NDA/CDS is the toughest. The same goes for SSC-CGL/CHSL/IBPS exams.

Sister: 'Obviously, a statement.'

"Sister: 'Gate is easy,' said my sister who scored well in JEE Mains and Advanced but wasn’t happy with her board marks (around 94%, but she didn’t think it was good enough!).

Me: 'Okay, but why are you so obsessed with comparing these exams? What are you comparing them on?'

Me: 'Now, if Google had a common exam to recruit, which would be tougher: JEE or the Google exam?'
